WELCOME TO
AHMEDABAD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Ahmedabad Community Foundation (ACF) was initiated as a pilot project in October 2000. It follows the broad principles of Community Foundation elsewhere in the world. The pilot phase was used to ascertain whether such an organization had relevance in the Indian context.

ACF is formed in the spirit of bringing communities together, raising resources for the long-term future, nurturing relationships and connections that build a sense of community. The ACF hopes to inspire people and communities to build funds and resources and distribute the same in the spirit of community for good and forever...

The Development Of Sarkhej Roza-Facilitated by Ahmedabad Community Foundation, 2001 onwards.
ACF has been working to revive and restore Sarkhej Roza back to the city of Ahmedabad since 2001. Besides striving towards bringing Sarkhej Roza back into public memory, ACF has been involved in advocating for easier access and better amenities for the monument; Restoring and facilitating the cultural practises and festivals historically associated with the Roza.

SARKHEJ ROZA CRAFTS & WOMEN’S COLLECTIVE

The Sarkhej Roza Crafts and Womens’ Collective is an effort to create livelihoods for the people living around the monument of Sarkhej Roza with a focus of connecting their lives to the monument. The Sarkhej Roza Crafts & Women’s Collective is facilitated by ACF.

TREE PLANTATIONS

As an addition to the efforts by AUDA to improve access and infrastructure, ACF undertook massive tree plantations. These were held for consecutive years in the monsoon season. The opportunities provided by these events were used to involve the community living nearby the monument to feel part of the development.
